SPE Membership FAQs

 

I am a member of SPE, but I do not remember my SPE membership number. How can I find my membership number?

·         You can find your SPE membership number by logging into my profile section of SPE. Link to my profile section is: http://www.spe.org/ams/Custom/CustomerProfile.aspx.

·          If you don’t remember your username and password to log-in to SPE account, you can contact SPE customer service via email (service@spe.org). They can help you locate your SPE membership number and can reset your log-in password

·         SPE membership number is often printed in small letters at the bottom of emails you receive from SPE. Try locating one of those emails to find out your membership number.

 

I joined SPE at some other location and am now based in Bangalore. I still receive emails from SPE for events related to my old section. How can become part of SPE Bangalore section?

·         SPE by default assigns you to section which is located nearest to the address mentioned under in your profile. Kindly change your home address and office address by logging into my profile: http://www.spe.org/ams/Custom/CustomerProfile.aspx. You can also choose your default  section membership on the same page

·         If you don’t remember your username and password to log-in to SPE account, you can contact SPE customer service via email (service@spe.org). They can help you locate your SPE membership number and can reset your log-in password

 

I receive too many emails from SPE. How can I opt out from these promotional emails?

·         SPE sends out emails based on your preferences mentioned under profile section of SPE. If you no longer wish to receive promotional emails from SPE, please opt out of all these emails by logging nto my profile: http://www.spe.org/ams/Custom/CustomerProfile.aspx

·         If you don’t remember your username and password to log-in to SPE account, you can contact SPE customer service via email (service@spe.org). They can help you locate your SPE membership number and can reset your log-in password

 

I have moved out of Bangalore and would no longer like to receive emails related to events being organized by SPE Bangalore section?

·         We use an automated mailing list from SPE website to send out information related to SPE events. If you receive emails related to SPE Bangalore section event, it means that address mentioned under your profile section of SPE is not updated. Please change your home/office address by logging into website http://www.spe.org/ams/Custom/CustomerProfile.aspx. SPE shall re-assign you to a SPE section closest to your home/office address.

 

I was a SPE member before but my membership lapsed few years back. How can I reinstate my SPE membership?

·         SPE does allow you to re-instate your lapsed membership. If you remember your SPE membership number, you can sign up for membership re-instatement using the membership application form http://www.spe.org/join/docs/application.pdf . A re-instatement fee is applicable

·         If you don’t remember your membership number, you can contact SPE customer service via email (service@spe.org). They can help you locate your SPE membership

 

I was a SPE student member before. How can I become a professional SPE member?

·         You shall be automatically upgraded to a professional SPE membership when you pay professional membership fees while renewing your membership. You are also eligible to avail a discount in professional membership fees up to 2 years from your graduation date.

 

Will my company support my membership to SPE?

·         Most companies encourage employees and often reimburse the cost for availing membership of a professional society as a part of company’s goal to maintain technical competence. Kindly check with your HR staff and line manager about your company’s policy on reimbursement of costs related to SPE membership

·         If you are an employee of Shell India Markets Pvt. Ltd, current HR policy (Nov 2013) allows for reimbursement of membership costs for up to two professional societies for most employees. Your SPE membership would count towards one of the two professional memberships. Kindly check with HR staff/line manager for more details related to HR policy

 

I am interested in organizing events and being part of SPE committee. How can I become part of SPE Bangalore committee?

·         We are always looking out for volunteers to help us out in organizing events. If you are interested in joining the committee, kindly contact one of the existing committee members or email us at (spe.bangalore at spemail.org)
