Society for Petroleum Engineers–Bangalore Section has successfully entered in its third year of establishment. Section was formed on 10th October 2007 in the city of garden-Bangalore. Bangalore is emerging as a hot destination for technology, manufacturing & engineering services. SPEBANGSEC is fully dedicated for the growth of professionals pursuing their careers in petroleum sector by providing them a common platform to share experiences & to build network among SPE members. Apart from providing its members lifelong learning opportunities SPEBANGSEC is also focused on Gen-X talent pool, which can be motivated to choose their career in this sector ensuring constant flux of younger blood in this highly sophisticated & challenging profession.

Poll Results of Distinguished Lecturer Program

SPE Bangalore section members' opinions were invited to select top ten lecturers from the list provided by SPE for next season of DLP (2010-2011). Members were asked to rank lecturers using 1 to 10 (1 for top priority and 10 for least). Total sixteen members participated in the poll. SPE has been requested to provide next season DLP based on the poll results.

Unlocking Deepwater Potential: Strategies and Technologies

R.S. Sharma, CMD, ONGC, inaugurated second Deepwater ATW, Mumbai, on 14th September 2009. More than hundred delegates of 40 nationalities from forty companies attended the workshop. Sudhir Vasudeva, Director Offshore, ONGC, chaired the Steering Committee and James Lau, DL-PT, Shell Technology India, was the co-chairman.

Indian Deepwater Perspectives; Case Studies; Exploration, Appraisal and Development concepts; Drilling & Completion; Sub-sea/Surface facilities; Production Operation & Surveillance, Project Management Challenges and HSSE were themes for different sessions.

 Atul Chandra, RIL; N M Borah, CMD, Oil India Limited; K. Venkatramanan, L&T and John Hoppe, Shell Technology India; attended the Panel Discussion & Concluding session.
